Currency Exchange in Langley (1-877-355-5239)

There are many businesses in Langley that deal with US dollars on a daily basis. When looking to buy or sell large quantities of USD, it can often be challenging to find the best exchange rate in the city. It is common for many businesses to approach their banks when looking to exchange their funds. At first glance this seems to be the best solution, as banks already have all your information and are well versed in your finances. Business owners will therefore blindly approach their bank, especially when the transactions are occurring on an ongoing basis. Banks are aware of the control they possess, and in return inflate their rates and administrative costs. There is no need for them to offer competitive rates, as customers will essentially walk in the door no matter the price.

If you are transacting large amounts of US dollars on an ongoing basis, we have a solution that could save you and your business a lot of money.

Where to Exchange Currency in Langley

As part of the Greater Metro Vancouver area and its proximity to the United States, there is an increasing demand for buying US dollars.  Luckily, Langley, British Columbia has a number of options for international currency exchange.

Willowbrook Mall Currency Exchange

A popular option for buying and selling US dollars in Langley is at the Willowbrook Shopping Centre.  Located at 19705 Fraser highway, it is the largest commercial and retail centre in Langley, British Columbia.   The first option to exchange money is at the number of bank branches that are situated inside the shopping centre as well as in the surrounding areas.  The only bank that has a branch that is located inside the mall is the Bank of Nova Scotia, but there are a number of other banks located within the Willowbrook retail complex.  The Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Montreal are located along Willowbrook drive and HSBC Bank has a branch location just across the street in the plaza with the Riocan Langley Gate Shopping Centre on Langley Bypass and 200 Street.  There is also a Canadian Imperial Commerce Bank that is just a bit north at 64 Avenue and 201 Street. If you bank with a credit union, there are three credit unions in the area.  Prospera Credit Union and the Vancity Credit Union Br.. 23- Langley community branch are both on 200 Street just north of Willowbrook and the First West Credit Union is right across from the CIBC branch.

If you prefer not to exchange money through the banks, there is an alternative option inside the Willowbrook mall.  International Currency Exchange, a retail currency exchange company has a kiosk location that provides cash exchanges.

The money exchange options at Willowbrook Mall area are convenient options if you live close by.  Since there are quite a few options within the same area, you can generally shop around and compare the rates.  Generally though, banks and cash retail currency providers won’t have the best rates in the Langley area, but on smaller exchange amounts, this shouldn’t matter too much.

Langley Airport Currency Exchange

Langley actually has its own regional airport but it’s more catered to businesses and training services than for commercial purposes so it doesn’t actually provide any sort of currency exchange services.  Since Langley is part of the metro Vancouver area, the other airport that caters to it is the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) which is located in the neighboring city of Richmond and is about 61.5 KM from downtown Langley.  The Vancouver International Airport provides a number of currency exchanges amongst its various retail currency exchange as well as with the banks that are situated in the different terminals.  Airports tend to have the worst exchange rates, so if you need to exchange money for trips abroad, ensure that you do it ahead of time.  If you are entering Canada, don’t feel that you have to exchange money, there are a number of places with rates better once you leave the airport.

Langley Hotel Currency Exchange

Amongst other options for exchanging money in Langley are the various hotels.  The surrounding cities in the metro Vancouver area are a popular choice for tourists visiting Vancouver because hotel and accommodation prices are much cheaper than in the downtown core of Vancouver.  Hotels in Langley that provide an in-house currency exchange service include the Coast Hotel & Convention Centre, the, the Best Western Plus Langley Inn, the Sandman Signature Langley Hotel, the Best Western Plus Country Meadows Inn, the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Langley-Surrey, and the Coast Hotel & Convention Centre.

These hotels are a convenient option since if you are already staying in them and aren’t aware of other options or don’t want the headache of finding one.  The exchange rates aren’t the best, but they are most likely better than the airports rates, and on the smaller amounts the difference is negligible.

Langley Banks Currency Exchange

Banks are often one of the first options that many people consider when they are looking to exchange currency.  The Big Five Banks of Canada have a large presence within Langley including TD Canada Trust, RBC, BMO, Scotia Bank and CIBC.  A large majority of the branches are concentrated in the Willowbrook-Fraser highway area.  In addition to the banks, there are also a number of different credit unions that also provide foreign exchange service.  Some of these credit unions include Prospera Credit Union, Vancity Credit Union, First West Credit Union and Aldergrove Credit Union.

The exchange rates at banks compared to the credit unions should be quite similar, it will obviously differ bank to bank and credit union to credit union and which one you choose to use will depend on your banking preference.  Some banks do offer preferential exchange rates as part of certain premium banking subscriptions, so if you’re doing a lot it might be worthwhile to explore different banking currency exchange options with your bank or another bank.

Banks are a good option if you’re looking to do a low volume transaction, but they don’t typically have the best rates, on higher volume exchanges it is best to find a specialized currency exchange provider that can offer you rates that are closer to the mid-market rate.

Langley Retail Currency Exchange Services

Retail currency exchange services are also another popular option.  However, there are limited options in Langley.  The first is the International Currency Exchange kiosk that is located in the Willowbrook Shopping Centre.  The second is a Cash Money branch that is located just off the Fraser highway on Acacia crescent.  Cash Money is a company that mostly specializes in money loan services but they do also provide a money exchange service as well.  Another retail option is Capital Forex Currency Exchange.  Cash retail operations tend to be on the higher end for exchange rates due to their high overhead costs.

Where to Get the Best Exchange Rate in Langley

Getting the best exchange rate in Langley is much like getting the best deal on anything, you simply shop around and wait for the market to drop.  While you can’t control what happens especially in the currency markets, you can shop around to see who has the best rates.  Remember your choices aren’t just limited to Langley, you can expand your options to other service providers within the metro Vancouver area.  In other cases, you can even work with currency exchange specialists across Canada, more and more services are moving online and these companies can offer much better exchange rates than your local providers.
